John Aylesbury's Black aromatic pipe tobacco (formerly known as Sillem's Black) is best characterized as "extravagant." The main ingredient of Black is the finest spicy, smoky Latakia. The addition of highly aromatic Black Cavendish makes the blend much smoother, while a small portion of Burley gives a slight toasted aroma, and a pinch of bright Virginia brings a subtle sweet note.  The mixture is cased with honey and fruit essences to give it a mellow, but yet full bodied aroma and a unique flavor to the predominant Latakia.
