SHIPPING POLICY
Our products are packaged and shipped using methods to safeguard them so they arrive at your doorstep intact. However, products can still sustain damage in shipping. If your items are damaged in shipping, please refuse your order, indicate "damaged" on the delivery receipt, and call us immediately (217) 750-2385 so we can begin taking the necessary steps to send your replacement product as soon as possible. In consideration of the fact that square pipe tobacco tins are known to lose their seal, and while we test to ensure the seal is intact prior to shipping square tins, the customer assumes all risk in the event their order containing a square tin(s) of pipe tobacco arrives with a seal that is no longer intact.
All orders are shipped on the next business day unless the customer is notified otherwise. The length of time it takes to receive your order depends on the shipping method you select, your location, and the shipping carrier. Please note: USPS delivery dates are estimates only and we do not guarantee your order's arrival on the stated date.
Orders shipped via USPS Priority Mail are automatically insured for a minimum of $100.00 up to the total value of your order. If your order shipped via Priority Mail and has been officially declared "lost" by USPS, please read and follow USPS.com's instructions to file a claim.
Packages that ship via USPS First Class Mail are not insured, so if your package is lost or damaged during transit, you will not be able to file a claim with USPS to be reimbursed. Refunds or replacement orders for packages officially declared "lost" by USPS or contain product that was damaged during shipping are determined on a case by case basis.
The shipping rates for many items we sell are weight-based. The weight of these items can be found on their product page. To comply with the policies of the shipping carriers we use, the total weight of all orders over 13 ounces are rounded up to the next full pound.
Since we are headquartered in Illinois, we cannot ship tobacco products into Cook County, Illinois. Also, due to their state laws, we cannot ship tobacco products to residents of Colorado, Hawaii, Maine, Massachusetts, South Dakota, Utah, or Washington. At this time, we do not ship products internationally.
You MUST be 21 years of age to purchase tobacco products. If we have any uncertainty regarding your age, we may ask you to email a copy of your ID to us. In some cases, tobacco orders may be shipped to you marked "Age Sensitive. Signature of Adult 21 Years Required." By purchasing any products from our website, you are certifying that you are of legal age to purchase tobacco products or smoking accessories.
Your satisfaction is important to us, but if we ship your order to an incorrect address you provided, you will be responsible for the shipping costs.
FRAUD PREVENTION POLICY
In order to help prevent fraudulent transactions, loss associated with fraudulent transactions, and the sale of pipe tobacco products to individuals who are not of legal age, we require the following for all online purchases:

customers must provide complete billing and shipping information that includes their legal first and last name, their complete billing address associated with their payment method, the verifiable phone number associated with their billing address and payment method, and their verifiable email address;

customers must use a US bank-issued credit card if using a credit card to pay for a purchase;

customers who wish to ship an order to an address other than the billing address associated with their payment method must provide us with: 1) a copy of their drivers license or government-issued photo ID that contains the billing address associated with their payment method; and 2) a signed and dated written statement authorizing The Story Teller's Pipe© to ship their order to a specified address or other specified person and address.
Without the provision of the above, The Story Teller's Pipe© will not ship any order to the customer or other designated address or person.
RETURNS & EXCHANGE POLICY
We strive to provide high quality products and friendly, professional service to our customers. If you are not completely satisfied, you may return any merchandise for a refund or exchange. Please follow the steps below to request a refund or exchange.

Pipe Returns: A pipe may be returned for any reason within 30 days of purchase if it has not been smoked.

Pipes generally are warrantied for 30 days from the date of purchase by the manufacturer to be free of defects. If you experience a 'burn-out' within 30 days from the date of purchase, please send us an email containing your order number to arrange a return. At our discretion, we will either refund your purchase price of the defective pipe or exchange it for a new pipe of the same price.

We do not warranty pipes against normal or excessive wear and tear, including bit wear or cracking, tenon breakage, cracking or breakage from dropping the pipe, etc.

We do not warranty estate pipes. Returns for estate pipes are considered on a case-by-case basis. Please contact us with your order number if you wish to return an estate pipe.

Tobacco Returns: We accept returns on tinned pipe tobacco within 30 days of purchase under certain, limited circumstances as follows:

If the tobacco you received is not the tobacco you ordered, please send us an email containing your order number to arrange a return of the unopened product. We will pay the shipping costs to return the incorrect, unopened product to us and send you the correct product.

If the tobacco you receive contains mold, please send us an email containing your order number and a photo(s) of the molded tobacco in its tin or box to begin the process of a product return. We will issue a full refund or exchange based on your preference and product availability. In the event the defective product must be returned to us, we will pay the shipping costs. If you choose to exchange the defective product, we will pay the shipping costs to send you the replacement product, if available.

A dented or scratched tin of pipe tobacco does not constitute a defective product and is not eligible for a refund. It may be exchanged as an "optional" return (see below).

In consideration of the fact that square pipe tobacco tins are known to lose their seal, and while we test to ensure the seal is intact prior to shipping square tins, the customer assumes all risk in the event their order containing a square tin(s) of pipe tobacco arrives with a seal that is no longer intact. A square tin of pipe tobacco that loses its seal during transit does not constitute a defective product and is not eligible for a refund. It may be exchanged as an "optional" return (see below).

We accept "optional" returns on tinned tobacco only if the tobacco has not been opened and its packaging seal is intact. In these cases, please send us an email containing your order number to arrange a return. We will give you an in-store credit for the purchase price of the tinned tobacco or exchange it for another product of the same price, at your discretion. While your satisfaction is important to us, we do not pay the shipping costs for optional returns.

We do not accept returns on bulk tobacco unless there is a physical problem with the tobacco. If there is a physical problem with a bulk tobacco product you ordered, please send us an email containing your order number. Due to the nature of bulk tobacco and environmental variables, refunds or exchanges of bulk tobacco products will be determined on a case-by-case basis.

DISCLAIMERS
Illinois law does not require the collection of state excise taxes on purchases made by non-Illinois customers and/or retailers. It is the sole responsibility of each customer to comply with any and all applicable laws of their particular jurisdiction regarding the payment of taxes.
